I had the misfortune suffer a car breakdown on the Woodhall M1 south bound services exit slip road in my Mitsubishi Carisma on Wed. 18th Feb. The engine management warning light kept coming on and stopping the engine. The S&H recovery driver could not cure the fault on the spot and after trying unsuccessfully to keep the engine running diagnosed the problem as a fuel blockage in the front fuel filter or a faulty fuel pump. At this stage I might add that the car had previously been in two different garages for the same problem and I had been told that the water pump was faulty and the head gasket was blowing so I stumped up almost £500 to get it sorted. The car was ok for a while then the problem re occured, so I took it to another garage owned by my wife's brother who put on his diagnostic machine but it would not recognise the system, He wiped its memory clean and claimed that it should be OK now. It was for about two weeks so I thought I would risk a trip to Nottingham from my home in Batley. Then it conked again at woodhall. S&H brought me and the car home. I left it until I could get time to look at the filter today (Sat 21st). I took the filter off and lo and behold it was quite furred up. I managed to get a new filter at my local Andrew Page store (£21) Fixed it on. Problem Solved.

My thanks go to the S&H mechanic/driver who picked me up and correctly diagnosed the problem. I wish it had been him who picked me up the first time when it broke down near Birmingham with same problem in November last year, I'm sure it would have saved me a fortune.
